Engineer with PhD in robotics, mechatronics, embedded systems or electrical engineering

We are looking for an engineer with a strong background in robotics, mechatronics, embedded systems or electrical engineering, with a versatile profile, capable of developing both electronics and instrumentation. You will work in our innovation unit, in charge of developing commercially-viable microfluidic instruments and setups in the framework of our European innovation projects. You will engineer new technical solutions and be open to learning in all areas within your reach.

Whether you have a lot of experience or not is not the most important thing for us, what counts for us is the mindset, curiosity, positive energy and the ability to learn.

Our team is growing to meet the increasing demand for microfluidics in research and innovation!

Your missions:

  • Within our innovation team, you will work on scientific projects around microfluidics to meet the needs and specifications from the market and from our European research partners. You will be a driving force to solve all the challenges you meet in a simple, audacious and smart way.
  • You will participate in the development of future microfluidic instruments for our product range and develop microfluidic components and platforms for all scientific applications in our field.
  • You will explore all the side roads and implement all the crazy ideas that make sense to keep Elvesys at the forefront of innovation in the microfluidics sector.

Required profile:

  •  You have an engineering degree and a PhD related to electronics (all fields are suitable, mechatronics, robotics, embedded systems…) and you are ready to work on multidisciplinary projects. Note for robotics geeks: The job is not directly related to robotics, but with the knowledge of such training, you will have the perfect skill set to tackle our daily challenges.
  • Strong background in electronics.
  • Experience designing PCB (Altium, KiCad or other software).
  • Experience designing circuits with mixed analogue and digital electronics.
  • Strong experience in signal conditioning (filter, amplifier design, ADC selection, etc.).
  • You are scientifically rigorous, creative and pragmatic.
  • You know how to think “outside the box”, to find simple solutions to complicated problems, you are not afraid to tackle complex issues and you know how to quickly make them your own.
  • You feel comfortable in an international environment and are confident to work independently.
  • You don’t like routine, and you can adapt quickly to changes in direction.
  • You want to do meaningful work, and you want your participation in our research projects to help change the world

Ideally, you also have some:

  • Experience with power converters
  • Programming skills in C/C++ in particular
  • You have a first experience in the development of an embedded platform including sensors, controllers etc…
  • Developed on a 32-bit microcontroller of a known family (STM32, Microchip, ESP32…)
  • Use of communication protocols such as: UART, TCP/IP, USB…etc
