Elvesys is a French SME specialized in microfluidic instrumentation and flow control.

We would be glad to be your industrial partner for this call about prevention and/or early diagnosis of cancer, and to share with your consortium our technical expertise in lab-on-chip and microfluidics. We are currently involved in several EU projects and are therefore familiar with the submission process. Let’s start a new project together!

What we can do, as an SME partner:

For the call SC1-BHC-17-2020, we can bring our expertise in microfluidic instrumentation and flow management to help you to develop a lab-on-a-chip platform to detect biomarkers involved in cancer. Specifically, we can:

  • Develop a microfluidic setup to inject patient samples into your lab on chip and allow a quick detection of specific cancer biomarkers, on site, without the need for a proper lab
  • Optimize of the flow inside your lab on chip
  • Propose a user-friendly and affordable platform for cancer diagnosis, adapted to be used by non-trained medical staff

What labs-on-chip can do for early diagnosis of cancer?

The use of microfluidics as a tool for cancer prevention and diagnosis would address the following expected impacts of the call SC1-BHC-17:

  • Improve tailored and affordable prevention and/or early diagnosis

⇒ Microfluidic labs-on-chip are a very powerful tool for biomarker detection and therefore cancer diagnosis. They can be easily performed on-site, for example in doctors’ offices, allowing an early detection, even in low and middle-income countries.

  • Inform health service providers, policy and decision makers on effective scaling up of cancer interventions at local, regional, and national levels, including affordability aspects for users and health providers.

⇒ With a lab-on-a-chip, cancer diagnosis can be performed in a compact device in only a few minutes: it becomes easily accessible, stays affordable since the laboratory costs do not exist, and it can be implemented on a large scale.

    • Reduce health inequalities and inequities, including due consideration of socio-economic, gender and age issues where relevant, in the prevention and/or early diagnosis of cancer at both local and global levels

    ⇒ With lab-on-chip, no need to send a sample to a laboratory for long and costly analysis: it is possible to obtain a result in a few minutes, on site. This technology can thus be accessible in any country, reducing the inequalities caused by a poor access to medical facilities.
